Trump addresses leaders’ unity at parade

An unprecedented scene unfolded as Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stood side by side at a vast military parade in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. This was the first time the three leaders had appeared publicly together, marking the 80th anniversary of Japan’s surrender and the end of World War II.

The parade displayed hundreds of advanced weapons, such as anti-ship and hypersonic missiles, undersea drones, air-defense lasers, robot dogs, and involved more than 10,000 troops, reflecting China’s rapid military modernization. Over 50,000 people attended the parade, and dozens of world leaders were present.

Military display and political messages

Chinese officials described the parade as a commemoration of the end of World War II and a demonstration of China’s military achievements. President Xi addressed the crowd, emphasizing Chinese strength and resolve, stating, “The Chinese nation is a great nation that does not fear violence.”

He added that China’s progress is “unstoppable.” The event included a musical gala titled “Justice Will Prevail” and a banquet for visiting dignitaries. The guest list reflected shifts in global alliances, with no major western leaders in attendance.

Trump’s reaction on social media

As the parade unfolded, U.S. President Donald Trump responded on his social media platform. Trump sarcastically congratulated President Xi, writing: “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against the United States of America.”

Trump also referenced America’s sacrifice in World War II and expressed disappointment that the United States was not mentioned in Xi’s speech.

To reporters, he described the parade as “very, very impressive,” but stressed that the U.S. “should have gotten a mention.” Trump’s remarks came as he continued to frame China, Russia, and North Korea as challenging the U.S.-led world order.

Responses from Moscow and Beijing

Russian President Vladimir Putin played down Trump’s comments, telling the press, “the US president does not lack a sense of humor.” Moscow officially stated that no real conspiracy was intended and that partnerships with China and North Korea are not aimed at any third country.

Chinese officials did not publicly respond to Trump’s statements but continued to emphasize the themes of national unity and modernization.

International implications

The unified presence of Xi, Putin and Kim sent a clear international signal of strengthened ties and a willingness to act independently of Western influence. The meeting comes as global tensions remain high and as China, Russia, and North Korea face ongoing friction with the U.S. and its allies.

Close cooperation among these leaders drew responses from Western officials, many of whom saw the parade as a challenge to the existing international system.

Conclusion

The Beijing parade stood out not only for its scale and military displays but for the public show of solidarity between China, Russia, and North Korea. Trump’s reaction, both in tone and content, became a central point in U.S. discussions about China and global power shifts.

The international spotlight remains on how these partnerships and public gestures may shape the world order in the months ahead.
